Andrew Brown, Organist

Brown AndrewThe Curtis at All Hallows season continues on Saturday, April 11th at 7 PM when we welcome Andrew Brown in performance on the Skinner organ.

Andy Brown is one of the leading organists of his generation, performing concerts and recitals all across the country. He has been reviewed by The American Organist as an organist that “employs a variety of colors and extensive dynamic shading” and plays both “musically and with great character.”

Andy is currently a student of Alan Morrison at the Curtis Institute of Music where he performs on organ, piano and harpsichord in solo, chamber and orchestral concerts. He is the assistant organist at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC as well as the organ scholar at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Philadelphia. Andy has gained international recognition through his many online performances broadcast worldwide. In 2021, he was the first-place winner of the Regional Competition for Young Organists in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Andy has previously studied under Isabelle Demers and Monte Maxwell. He is also a very active harpsichordist studying under Leon Schelhasse and works extensively with the Curtis Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Jim Ross and Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
