If you like Coltrane and Bach, then come to All Hallows Wyncote on Thursday, May 9th at 7 PM to hear students coached by the Grammy-winning Imani Strings in a concert that features works by Paquito D’ Rivera (Aires Tropicales), Heitor Villa-Lobos (Quintette en forme de Choros) and Francis Poulenc (Sextour for Piano and Winds).
Fresh from their 2024 Grammy win for Best Classical Compendium: Passion for Bach and Coltrane, members of the Imani Winds will attend the concert given by their Curtis Institute students at All Hallows Episcopal Church in Wyncote on Thursday, May 9th at 7 PM, and will participate in a lively post-concert audience discussion.

2024 Grammy Winners
The Curtis Institute of Music welcomed the internationally acclaimed Imani Winds to its faculty in 2021. Noted for its commissioning activity, socially conscious programming, and commitment to equity, the ensemble enhances the world-class chamber music training available to all of Curtis’s 150 students as the school’s first-ever faculty wind quintet. As an active chamber ensemble, Imani Winds provide expertise in the particular facets of a quintet career to Curtis’s wind students, which have produced some of the most in-demand orchestral musicians in the country.
The Imani Winds won the 2024 Grammy Award for Best Classical Compendium, an honor presented to recording artists for the best compendium album in the classical music genre.
